DebtSplitter is built with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains our commitment to protecting your privacy and how your data is handled when you use our App.

In short: We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Everything stays on your device.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

DebtSplitter does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Specifically, we do not collect:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
Financial information or transaction data
Device information or identifiers
Location data
Usage analytics or statistics
Crash reports or diagnostic data
Cookies or tracking technologies
Any other personal or non-personal information

2. How Your Data is Stored

All data you enter into DebtSplitter is stored locally on your device using iOS's built-in storage mechanisms. This includes:

Group names and member information
Expense records and descriptions
Transfer/payment records
Balance calculations
Any other information you enter into the App

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

3. No Account or Registration Required

DebtSplitter does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information to use the App. You can start using it immediately after installation.

4. Offline Functionality

The App works completely offline and does not require an internet connection. No data is synchronized to the cloud or transmitted over the internet during normal operation.

5. Currency Exchange Rates

Currency exchange rates are bundled with the App during development and included in each app update. The App does not connect to the internet to fetch exchange rates or transmit any information about your currency conversions.

6. Data Backup

Because all data is stored locally on your device, your data may be included in device backups if you use:

iCloud Backup
iTunes/Finder backup
Other device backup solutions

These backups are controlled by Apple and your iOS device settings, not by DebtSplitter. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how backup data is handled.

7. Data Security

While we do not collect or transmit your data, you are responsible for securing your device. We recommend:

Using device passcodes, Face ID, or Touch ID
Keeping your iOS software up to date
Enabling device encryption (enabled by default on modern iOS devices)
Regularly backing up your device

8. Children's Privacy

DebtSplitter does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The App can be used by anyone without providing personal information.

9. Third-Party Services

DebtSplitter does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. There are no third parties that have access to your data through the App.

10. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

You can delete individual items (groups, expenses, transfers) within the App at any time
Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all data stored by the App
There is no data stored on our servers to delete

Important: Data deletion is permanent and cannot be recovered unless you have a device backup.

11. Your Rights

Because we don't collect any data about you, there is no personal data for us to access, modify, or delete. You have complete control over all data in the App through your device.

12. App Store Privacy Information

When you download DebtSplitter from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect information about the download. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information about data collection by the App Store.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
Updating the "Last Updated" date
Providing notice through the App if the changes are material
